11.11.11 Surprise !

Hi guys! yesterday I got a very nice  Toy !

Ive been waiting for this weekend a long time because this little bastard was sold out!

but now I finally have it in my own hands! :D

Hmmm its a very small box…….

:3 Ill play with this shit later !

Damnnnn wtf is this shit!

HOLY SHIT! ITS AN OP-1!!!!

:D

OP-1 is a Sampler, sequencer and synth all in one! from Teenage Engineering that includes a 4 track tape recorder!.

This little beast is the most amazing portable instrument I have seen in my life!

it does everything you want on a tiny weightless synth. As I said yes it has 4 tracks to record on which can make you feel a little bit limited but it forces you to push your creativity to places you have not seen before , well at least it does on me because I had only worked on DAWs before I got my OP-1 .

I cant do a full review yet because I’m still learning the basics. The OP-1 might look very small but the capabilities of this little beast are beyond that without a doubt .

I did a Test clip check it out on my next post thanks for reading!

The Astral Observatory “Home Studio Gear Tour ” Part 1

Hi Guys this is my first post here! I hope you enjoy this gear tour. I will try to cover as much as I can .

This is very close to how my setup looks now. If you look closer on this photo the rack still had the Axe-Fx Ultra instead of the Axe-Fx II

This is the main guitar that I use in all of my recordings:

EBMM JP7 BFR.This is an amazing guitar very versatile and high quality instrument. I highly recommend trying this guitar.

and this is my bass!

EBMM Stingray 5

Now first I’m going to write about the Computer I use to record my stuff!

Yes it is a Mac computer! :)

-It is a Mac Pro.

The reason I went with Mac is because the current DAW I use is Logic Pro 9

+ I just don’t like PC haha.

Ok so after choosing a powerful computer and a really good DAW I needed a way to record guitars.

I went with the AxeFx II from Fractal Audio!

IMO the best amp modeler out there!

So now that I have all I need to record my Guitar and Bass I need to hear my recordings right!?

So I need 2 things:

1st- Audio Interface:

I use a Apogee ensemble. Now you might think that the Apogee ensemble is totally ridiculous for a “home studio” and I agree with you but the reason I have it is because before having the AxeFx I used it to record live instruments! but it sounds so good that I just cant sell it <3 .

2nd-Monitors:

I use a pair of Genelec 8030A .

Also in this case I could use my AxeFx II as the audio interface instead of the Apogee ensemble via USB!. This way I can get the guitar/bass tones I want out of the axe record them on my DAW and hear them through my monitors. All of that just using the AxeFx II  that’s how good this piece of gear is!.

Something very important is missing here.Gear can be very expensive so you have to take good care of them against  electrical issues you might experience.

That’s why I use my Furman power conditioner PL-Plus C

Thank you for reading! On Part 2 I will be writing about all the plug-ins I use to spice up my music!

-Ricky.
